Black Excellence Poster Gallery and Reception
- Where: Virginia S. Hislop Gallery, Petrie Hall
- Reception: Wednesday, February 21, 2024 – 4:00-5:00 p.m.
- Description: Explore Black excellence in various vocations through a walk through a gallery of posters created by UNIV 101 classes and other students. New works added every week of February!
Black History Month Book Display
- Where: Donald North Library
- Description: At the Donald North Library in the Kathleen Ross, SNJM Center, there is an exhibit of books and a guide to this important observance. The display includes:The Color Complex, Kathy RussellBlack Indians: A Hidden Heritage, William Loren Katz
  The Black West, William Loren Katz
  
  Stand and Prosper: Black Colleges and Their Students, Henry N. Drewry and Humphrey Doermann
  
  The library invites you to view the Black History Month LibGuide to learn more about this year’s theme, “African Americans and the Arts.”
Black Writers Display
- Where: Sr. Elizabeth Simkins Hall
- Description: The contributions of Black writers to literature are being celebrated in displays located in Sr. Elizabeth Simkins Hall at Heritage. On a wall outside Teacher Preparation Associate Professor Gloria Jones-Dance’s office is a collection of photographs and quotes from American writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin. Another display features pictures and quotes from other Black writers, including W.E.B. Du Bois and Layla F. Saad.
