HAZING INFORMATION

Heritage University prohibits students and student organizations, whether on or off campus, from participating or engaging in the hazing of another person.

HAZING REPORTING

In accordance with Washington State House Bill 1751 (“Sam’s Law”), Heritage University will publicly report hazing violations beginning on August 5, 2022. The report must include:
  • The name of the student organization, athletic team, or living group;
  • The date the investigation was initiated;
  • The date on which the investigation ended with a finding that a violation occurred;
  • A description of the incident;
  • The details of the sanctions imposed; and
  • The date the student organization was charged with a violation.
The report will not include any personal or identifying information of individual students and is subject to the requirements of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, 20 U.S.C. § 1232, et seq. (“FERPA”). Heritage University will maintain reports for five years and post reports on its Hazing Web Page. Investigations that do not result in a finding of formal violations will not be included in the report.
No reports of hazing have been received or investigated by Heritage University since 2022 when reporting requirements began.
