Heritage University celebrated Mexican Independence Day in style last week as the campus came together for El Grito de Independencia!
More than 500 students, families and community members filled campus for an evening of music, traditional dancing, delicious Mexican food, games and activities for all ages. The celebration was full of energy, pride and plenty of opportunities to enjoy and share Mexican culture and traditions.
The highlight of the evening was the traditional reenactment of the “Cry of Dolores,” commemorating Father Miguel Hidalgo’s historic 1810 call for Mexican independence.
El Grito is a wonderful example of how Heritage brings people together to celebrate culture, history and the traditions that make our community so vibrant.

Community resource fair
This is a community-wide celebration. Nonprofit organizations and social service agencies are invited to participate in the community resource fair. Businesses selling food, beverages, arts and crafts and other merchandise are invited to be vendors as the event. Our expected attendance is approximately 500 people, based on previous year’s attendance.
