Dr. Xiaoyan Gu holds a Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She has taught in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, specializing in the Primary Years Program (PYP) and utilizing language immersion methods. As a multilingual learner and a language educator, she is dedicated to promoting educational equity for multilingual students in K-12 classrooms. Her research focuses on disrupting negative ideologies of immigrant students and immigration, as well as teacher development to assess multilingual learners in more authentic ways, especially from the use of multilingual and translanguaging assessments in classrooms.
