Visitor Guidelines
Welcome to Heritage University! We are delighted to have you on campus. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and productive visit for everyone, we kindly ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:
Safety and Security
1. Check-In: All visitors must check in at the Front Desk in the Rau Center upon arrival. A visitor badge may be required for access to certain areas. Visitors attending events, meetings, or campus tours, for which you have previously registered or have been invited to attend may bypass the check-in requirement.
2. Emergencies: In case of an emergency, please dial 911 and notify campus security at (509) 865-8555. If you are in need of non-emergency assistance, please contact campus security at (509) 865-8555.
3. Parking: Visitors should park in designated visitor parking areas. Please follow the posted signage and avoid parking in reserved or restricted spaces. HU reserves the right to fine or impound any vehicle improperly parked on university property at the owner’s expense.
Prohibited Activities
1. Weapons and Hazardous Materials:Firearms, weapons, and hazardous materials are strictly prohibited on campus.
2. Alcohol and Drugs: The possession, use, or distribution of alcohol, cannabis, or illegal substances is not permitted on university property.
3. Solicitation: Soliciting or distributing materials without prior approval is not allowed.
4. Smoking and Vaping:Smoking or vaping is prohibited indoors in all university facilities at all locations and outdoors within 25 feet of all entrances and exits of the buildings and within 25 feet of any fresh air intakes or any operable windows of any University buildings.
Student Privacy and Engagement
1. Respect Privacy: Refrain from entering classrooms, labs, or other restricted areas unless explicitly invited.
2. Interactions with Students:While engaging with students, respect their time and privacy, especially during study hours or exams.
Accessibility
1. Accommodations: Heritage University is committed to accessibility for all visitors. If you require special accommodations, please contact us in advance at (509) 865-8500 to make the necessary arrangements.
2. Service Animals: Service animals are welcome. Please ensure they are appropriately identified and under control at all times.
General Campus Etiquette
1. Respect the Environment:Please help us maintain a clean and welcoming campus by disposing of trash in designated bins and avoiding littering.
2. Be Mindful of Noise Levels: To respect students and staff engaged in learning and work, please keep noise levels to a minimum, especially near classrooms, libraries, and offices.
3. Stay in Designated Areas: Visitors are welcome in common areas, but some areas may be restricted to students, faculty, and staff. Please follow signage and staff directions.
