Family Resources

Our child care programs are designed to offer experiences that enhance and enrich each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical and creative development.  The HUELC believes that good child care is good family care.  However, our basic philosophy is one of freedom to learn, grow and make choices.  We believe that children learn through play and we have structured the environment to reflect that belief.

HUELC is not a day care or babysitting service, but an educational learning center.  The principles that guide our curriculum have its roots in what are developmentally appropriate practices.  Each month we have a theme and dedicated to what interests the children.  We will always continue to plan activities that reinforce our focus through art, science, math and language, music and movement, circle time, pre-reading and writing activities.  The activities we plan for children, the way we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule and talk with children, are all designed to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give our children a successful start in school.

Program for Infant and Toddler Care – PITC
The PITC Online Library houses an extensive collection of multimedia resources related to early childhood.  Al the resources are selected by our faculty to support the philosophy, practice and teaching of PITC.

YOU ARE YOUR CHILD’S FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT TEACHER. This is a big responsibility, but there are little things you can do every day that will give your child a great state in life. . .and school.  In fact, you may already be doing them!

PRESCHOOL

Cubs – Preschool Program (ages 3 years – 4 years)
Our Preschool curriculum describes the kind of curriculum that develops when exploring what is socially relevant, intellectually engaging and personally meaningful to children.  Our planned curriculum is never built on children’s interests along; teachers and parents also have interests worth bringing into the curriculum.  Activities include math, language, literacy, science, health and arts and crafts.  The curriculum enhances the mental and physical development of each child through work that focuses on preparation for kindergarten and beyond.

Office of Superintendent of Public School – OSPI
OSPI Early Learning works closely with the Washington State Department of Early Learning and private partners Thrive by Five Washington and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to align educational opportunities for young children from birth through 3rd grade throughout our public school system.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN

Wolves – Pre-Kinder Enrichment Program (ages 4 years – 5 years) Our Pre-Kinder program and curriculum is designed to be centered around a predictable and organized learning environment, with caring adults, clear expectations and appropriate consequences support the whole child-cognitively, socially, emotionally and for many, spiritually.  We want our kids, families and community to be an active role in protecting and improving where we live!  We have designed a learning environment where children can enhance language skills and have opportunities to explore in the areas of math, reading and science in preparation for kindergarten.  Children gain social and emotional skills while participating in many activities that encourage fine and large motor skills.
